Welcome to my new monthly series exploring what’s in season each month of the year. Eating seasonally has a lot of benefits. It’s good for the environment, encouraging us to look for locally produced food. It’s also cheaper and more tasty. As well as looking at the fruit and vegetables that are in season, we’ll also talk about things you can do each month to slow down and live more with the seasons. So, what’s in season in July?
In July, summertime has really taken hold with warm, sunny, long days to enjoy as well as lot of seasonal fruits and vegetables to harvest and enjoy. This is a great month to try something new or start reaping the rewards of your growing if you have a garden or allotment.

How to live seasonally in July.
Now is the time to embrace the season. Summer is usually a time to be active and busy but, in the UK we know how fleeting summertime can be. Now is also as good a time as any to step back, slow down and enjoy the season.
- Pick you own fruits. Either forage or find your nearest PYO farm for raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, loganberries and more.
- Visit a lavender farm
- Take a tour of a garden or heritage site
- Visit the coast or a hidden gem
- Include a new dish or salad in your meal plan for the week to include a seasonal veg or fruit.
